Here’s a little but of humor to cheer you all up. I know it did for me.
A week back my brother in Australia forwards me a copy of an email transcript made by a friend of his co-worker. Basically he owed money and tried paying with the spider drawing above. I thought it was pretty funny but since it involved personal email I thought it better not to pass on.
Today he tells me it’s gone viral and now an Australian newschannel has picked up the incident. So it’s all fair to post!
Interesting concept taking the emoticon concepts into new areas in both function and form. On this board it acts as a keypad you can use to insert emoticons into your messages. But then you can pull out these round smiley guys and insert them into wearable jewelry. Kinda geeky but I can see this being a fun holiday item for the young teen obsessed with IMing. Cute little smiley characters too… I bet it would get lost so easily though. (via: Bajca)
Sometimes it amazes me how creative some people are. OR I’m often amazed at how they find the time for things like this. Either way, these automaton metal elephants are way cool. (via: BookofJoe)
A client suggested I do a personal class on HDR work on his photography. I think that might be fun. For those that don’t know what HDR is, it stands for “High Dynamic Range” — photography speak for what is essentially taking multiple shots of the same image in different exposures and then combining them into one shot.
The result is you get an image that should look closer to what your eyes really saw when you took the photograph (you don’t get skies that look all white and blown out, nor do you get subjects that are all shadowy and dark)
There are people that argue back and forth about whether that’s considered “photography” at all. I don’t think it’s necessary a bad thing though…it’s just another creative method out there among many. I’ve goofed around with it enough to know how to do it…I think it’d be fun to actually try to set up a HDR bootcamp and actually get some real results one day.
Toxel’s got some good examples of what you can do with HDR. Some of them might be too fake looking but overall they’re fun to look at. (via: Toxel.com)
OK this is rather cool…a bit of a giant leap in interface design akin to the fancy computers they showed in the movies like Minority Report or Matrix.
Who knows, maybe in the near future we’ll be doing all our Photoshop designs using these giant hand gestures. It’ll be like I can work and get Wii-Fit type exercise at the same time!
This would do wonders for the adult entertainment industry…but they’d have to figure out one-hand gestures. Imagine the nausea. *snicker*
Here’s the first video we’ve shot for our band Miss Buddha. It’s a bit of an experiment for the guys down at the media center down at KCC to see how ready they would be to do projects like these…so the lighting and video style was completely on the cuff. I like how it turned out though, a good raw feeling to it.
World’s smallest hamburger? At a risk of sounding very effeminate, that’s gotta be the most adorable looking hamburger I’ve ever seen. I like the little puff of smoke coming off of the grill too! The little oil spots, the tiny sesame’s…OH, my head will explode from the cuteness. How would you order a “Super-sized” mini hamburger meal though?
This was found on DarkRoastedBlend’s collection of Food Art.
Now I’m craving a good burger today….Kua Aina’s here I come!
Beautiful artwork by an artist named Joshua Petker. I really like the colors and expressions he has for his subjects. I guess why it has this particular flavor is because of his graffiti art background. I’d hang some of these up on my walls…
Pffft, I’m all talk though, 4 months here in my new place and we’ve yet to hang anything up yet. I gotta start decorating this place.
I really underestimated how uncomfortable it would be after a surgery. No, the cuts and stuff I expected…but after my ear surgery the doc jams a cotton swab (feels like it’s the size of a giant rubber tire) into my ear canal where I have to wear it for a few days until he takes it out later this week. I don’t know if it was the procedure or this thing in my ear, but my neck has been tense for days and I have difficulty opening my mouth more then an inch to eat anything.
Meanwhile I only just developed enough guts to look at the scar in the back of my ear to see how it looks and it definitely looks like a long pink catepillar has clawed it’s way behind my ear. It’s really gross looking, I nearly fell over from the sight.
Yeah right about now my wife would be rolling her eyes. I’m definitely a drama queen and I haven’t been easy to live with this past week. On a positive note it’s been a good excuse to take a few “days off” of work and I’ve treated myself a lot with healthy dosages of candy and ice cream to liften the mood. Boy can’t wait till they pull this swab out of my ear.
On a lighter note I’ll be trying to return to work this week. Catching up with clients and the students of my class. Thanks to all of you for your understanding and well-wishes!
